Tanisha Mukherjee, born on 1 January 1978 in Mumbai, India, known as Tanisha, is an Indian film actress of Bengali-Marathi descent having acted in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Bengali films. Some of her films include Popcorn Khao! Mast Ho Jao (2004), Tango Charlie (2005), Sarkar (2005), Neal N Nikki (2005) Unnale Unnale (2007), One Two Three (2008), Kantri (2008) and Sarkar Raj (2008).
Tanisha belongs to a prominent family of famous personalities that has been working in Bollywood since the 1940s. Her relatives include paternal grandfather Sashadhar Mukherjee, uncles Joy Mukherjee and Deb Mukherjee, great-grandmother Rattan Bai, grandmother Shobhna Samarth and aunt Nutan. Her father is Shomu Mukherjee and her mother is actress Tanuja. The popular Bollywood actress Kajol is her older sister and actor Ajay Devgan is her brother-in-law. She is also the cousin of actress Rani Mukherjee. Tanisha's paternal grandfather was a film director and producer, whose wife Satirani Devi, Tanisha's grandmother, was the sister of three great film personalities of India: Ashok Kumar, Anup Kumar and Kishore Kumar.
