Ramya Krishna is a successful Indian movie actress. She has acted in more than 200 films in five Indian languages, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi.
Ramya was born on September 15, 1970 in Atreyapuram, East Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh, India. She is the niece of Cho Ramaswamy, veteran actor, politician, dramatist and journalist. She is a trained dancer (Bharathanatyam and Kuchipudi) and is credited with many stage performances. Ramya married the Telugu film director Krishna Vamsi in 2003 and is settled in Hyderabad.
Ramya Krishna started her acting career at the age of 13. She first played the lead role in the Tamil movie Vellai Manasu opposite Y.G. Mahendran. Since then she has portrayed a wide range of roles, from an innocent village belle to a hip and happening modern glam doll.
Ramyakrishnan's first Telugu film was Bhalae Mithrulu. Kasinadhuni Viswanath’s masterpiece Sutradharulu (1987) gave her first major break as an actress. Since then she has appeared on the silver screen with two generations of major heroes such as Akkineni Nagarjuna, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Balakrishna Nandamuri, Chiranjeevi, Jagapathi Babu, Krishna, Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao, Sobhan Babu and Venkatesh.
Ramya’s Tamil film Padayappa (Narasimha in Telugu) was popular with both film critics and fans, both in India and internationally in Japan, Singapore, London and Paris. Recently she gave performance in stage shows in New York, Dallas, San Jose and Cincinnati along with Nagarjuna and Tabu.
Ramya’s hit Kannada films include Gadibidi Ganda and Mangalyam Thanthunanaena with Ravichandran and Raktha Kanneeru with Upendra.
